What is Sonic Last Gen?

Sonic Last Gen is an ongoing project of a fangame made using Game Maker 7.0 Pro which started in late 2008. The quality of the game as a sonic fangame is not that great. There are a few things that make it not like a normal Sonic fangame, like the physics. You cannot run up slopes or around loops. Also, you bounce off of walls instead of stopping. You can't roll or spindash, and theres many other things that make this fangame one of the worst sonic fangames ever.

Development

Sonic The Hedgehog 2008

Sonic last gen started as a game called Sonic The Hedgehog 2008. This game had no acceleration and only one level. The rings did absolutely nothing when you collected them. There was only 1 hazard--spikes. They killed you instantly because rings did nothing. But at the time there was no lives system either, so you could die over and over and never get a game over. Since I really hated this game and thought it was a horrible excuse for a fangame, I forgot about it for a while.

Tails

Eventually, Sonic The Hedgehog 2008 was branched out into a game called Tails. This game was very different from Sonic 2008. In this game, you control tails as he flies to the right and collects rings. He must get enough rings to pass spike walls that kill him otherwise. This game was based off of Tails' Sky Patrol (the cheap LCD game, not the gamegear one). There were a few things that Sonic 2008 did not have: Real music, a sound test, a debug mode, and more levels. At the time this game was discontinued, the game had 3 levels: 2 in Green Hill Zone, and 1 in a zone created by me, called Aqua Zone. It featured the famous "getting bubbles to stay alive underwater" gameplay in the Aqua Zone. This project was discontinued because an even better one was starting...

Sonic Last Gen

Sonic The Hedgehog 2008 was used to make one sonic fangame, well now it would be used for another one. My friend Dillon Upton really liked the prototype of Sonic 2008 and said i should continue working on the project, so I did. The game would soon be more true to the original Sonic games with acceleration, a lives system, rings that actually have a purpose, and other things from the original Sonic games. This game started out with only one playable characters, but it grew to four later on. It is still currently with four playable characters: Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and Amy.
